Social Network and the
Impact on Dating Relationships

What exactly is social networking?

A social network is nothing more than a grouping of individual into a common environment...usually with similar interests and goals.

You will have many networks of people in your life, such as family, school, work, etc.

But as far as dating is concerned, nothing is more popular that using the internet to build a network of like-minded individuals.

This is because unlike most high schools, colleges or workplaces, the internet is filled with millions of individuals who are looking to meet other internet users and develop friendships, business relationships as well as dating relationships.

Social grouping websites function like an online community of internet users. Many of these online community members share a common interest such as hobbies, religion, or politics.

Once you are granted access to a social website you can begin to build your circle of friends.

Social NetworkingThis socialization may include reading the profile pages of other members and possibly even contacting them.

So let's talk about networks and online dating match websites.

From the biggies like Match.com, eHarmony, Yahoo Personals, to smaller, niche Web sites like ChristianCafe.com and JDate (for Jewish singles), sites that offer match-ups, hookups and dating prospects are all over the place.

Even the newer social sites like MySpace offer an opportunity to meet like-minded people.

Most of the big time online match dating services require some sort of fee.

But there is an increasing amount of websites that allow you to connect with people and offer free dating services.

What should you do?  Cast a wide net and take a look at a bunch of them. But don't rely entirely on online dating services.

A big attraction of social network sites are that they are not focused entirely on dating.

These sites can be a good alternative to traditional dating sites, because they offer a shared social environment that create a comfortable situation in which to get to know other people without the heavy pressure of dating.
