A Match Dating
Service
Requires Some Thought
When
looking into a match dating service or dating agency to help with your
match making goals, be aware that more often than not, you
will
need to create a profile.
Most
dating services
out there today will allow you to browse a personals ad to give you
a flavor of what's out there.
But in order to to
take full advantage of the dating
agency, you will need to create a dating profile of your own.
What
do our Dating Relationship experts have to say about the online
matchmaker?
Use them....BUT (there's always a but right) be
cautious.
To protect yourself from an unscrupulous
match dating service, consider the following:
- Research
the company. Find out if there any complaints on file with www.ConsumerAffairs.com,
the Better Business Bureau (www.bbb.org), the attorney general
of your state, or other consumer protection agencies.
- Read
the contract (signup agreement) carefully, and be sure you understand
all the provisions before you sign.
- Never
let anyone pressure you into signing up.
- Be
wary of any dating agency
that makes unbelievable claims or guarantees it will find you true love.
- Be
cautious of websites that only accept payments in checks or cash...and
not a credit card.
- Find out
the number of active members it has on file, the ratio of men to women,
and the number of people who meet your specific criteria.
- Find
out how much personal information the company shares about you with
prospective dates.
- Is your
privacy protected. Make sure it doesn't reveal your real name, address,
or other identifying information that could put your financial or
personal security in danger.
This may be common
sense to some of
you, but for those of your trying out a match dating service for the
first time, be cautious.
This
advice includes a dating match from the personals
ad you will see in newspapers and magazines, as well as online personals.
These types of matchmaker services can be useful,
but you need to be even more selective on who you meet.
As
we all have heard time and time again, there are some wackos out there
on the net...and nothing attracts the nuts more than "some" of
the
match making services available today.
As mentioned
in the
online
dating match
page, it is advisable to cast a wide net. Do
not limit yourself to one resource or one dating technique.
In
addition to the dating agencies, take a look at our American singles and
match dating pages for more information.
