Married Dating
Can Be Exciting
With
a Little Thought and Effort
Married dating is
something to treasure. One of the best benefits of marriage
is that you have a permanent dating partner.
Dating
with your spouse can be fun and exciting if you treated as
such. Being home with the kids all day doesn't mean you can't
have fun with your spouse.
Dating with your spouse can put
the passion back in your relationship.
Being
a stay-at-home
parent and devoting your life to your children doesn't mean your
marriage should take a back seat.
Scheduling regular
date nights with your spouse will give your marriage a regular
recharge.
And give you a night off, and provide such much needed adult
conversation.
Marriage counseling experts say it’s
important for married couples with children to set aside time to talk
privately without the kids around.
And to go out on “dates,” and to take an
occasional weekend romantic
getaway with just the two of you.
Here
are some ideas for married dating fun:
Night at the
Opera
- These
aren't as expensive as you might think. Check out a local college for
possible discounts on campus performances.
- If you go, be sure
to check out the plot of the story beforehand.
Restaurant
Sampling
- Make a list of your favorite types of
restaurants in
your areas (that you
haven't been to before) and then try each of them.
- Sample
a variety of cafe's. Instead of just staying at one
restaurant, have
dinner at one place and dessert at another.
- Try to find places within
walking distance, this way you can enjoy the scenery.
- Park a
few blocks away and walk in the moonlight to and from.
Hit
the Zoo
- The zoo can be quite a fascinating
place.
Check out everything from monkeys to the lions.
- If you're more
of an aquatic fan, check out your nearest aquarium.
Hit
the Outdoors
- A summer ball game is always fun, whether it's
major league or little league.
- Pack a lunch and head to the
nearest trails or even learn to kayak.
- Picnics are always a
pleasure. Pack a lunch and a blanket and head to your nearest park.
Set
a Regular Date Night and Stick To It
- If your date night is
once a week, once every two weeks or once a month, make a commitment
and a promise to your spouse that you’ll be there.
- Put it on
the calendar and think of it as an obligation just as important as a
doctor’s appointment or a work function.
Lunch Date
- If
evenings are just not doable for you, a long lunch in a nice restaurant
with your spouse is nice married dating idea, too.
- The idea is to spend time
together that is uninterrupted and relaxing. The time of day isn’t
important.
Arrange for a
Babysitter
- Schedule
an ongoing date with a babysitter.
- If your married dating night is every
Tuesday, book your babysitter for every Tuesday night for several
months at a time.
- Have a backup babysitter for the nights your
regular sitter can’t make it.
Some
Conversation
Starters
- Come up with some conversation starters that
will get
your spouse talking, remembering, laughing and sharing.
- Try to
avoid talking about the kids, the house, the bills, and any issue you
know is a hot spot for arguments between the two of you.
