Your First
Kiss is Something
You Will Never Forget
Whether it is your first kiss
ever!, or the first time you kissed your partner, it is something that
you will probably not ever forget.
The
first time kiss can sometimes make or break a couple’s
relationship. Are you ready to be kissed? Is there a special
someone that you like?
Boring Facts
about first kisses:
A
kiss may contain potentially important information about your kissing
partner, says George Gallup at the State University of New York,
Albany, US.
He surveyed 1041 students on their attitudes to kissing (Evolutionary
Psychology, vol 5, p 612).
Some
intriguing results are...
- Women, placed more emotional importance on a
kiss, valuing kisses during and after sex, and throughout a
relationship.
- Men tended to see kissing as a means to an end
– sex – and placed less importance on kissing as a relationship
progresses.
- Just over half the men said they would have sex
with someone without kissing, compared with 15% of women.
- And more men than women said that a good kiss
was one with tongue contact, where the partner made moaning noises.
T.M.I??
But
Gallup also says the first time kiss a couple share could make or
break the relationship.
In
a separate survey within the study, 59% of men and 66% of women
reported on occasion finding themselves attracted to someone, only to
lose interest after kissing them for the first time.
"The
complicated exchange of information that occurs during a kiss may
inform evolved, unconscious mechanisms about instances of possible
genetic incompatibility," Gallup says.
OK,
even more stressed out now? Relax. Seriously, just
try and relax when you are ready for your kiss.
Keep in mind that many are shy about kissing, but this doesn't mean
they don't want to kiss you.
The fastest way to have a first kiss is just to get close to the person
and kiss them. Sounds simply right?
First Kiss
Tips
- Avoid kissing straight-on, noses may get in the
way.
- Keep your eyes closed during a first smooch. It
will be awkward to be cross-eyed looking at them while kissing.
- Most
people consider it rude to have your eyes open during a kiss.
- It might
put the wrong message across, and make your partner think you are
criticizing his/her kissing.
- Tilt your head and lean towards his/her face
gently. If you go too fast, you could end up bashing heads.
- When your faces are about a centimeter apart,
pout your lips slightly and then part them a little bit as your lips
make contact.
- Don't try and stick your tongue down their
throat or kiss them too hard or fast.
- A kiss
for the first time should be soft and slow and there's plenty of time
to experiment with tongues once you've got your lip action down.
- First kisses feel like they last forever, but
the ideal length is less than a minute.
- You don't want it to get boring — or to end up
with sore lips! Don't stare at your watch either.
- You can gradually slow the kiss down and then
finish with a couple of normal pecks.
- There's
nothing nicer after kissing for the first time than a hug — it
shows the person you've kissed that you really like them.
- Relax and be at ease about it all. If
they do not go for the kiss, accept it and don't push.
